I have the privilege of fishing with one of the Cabelas Pro Staff on occation and the has told me time and time again that 3 days before and 3 days after but never on a full moon. I found that to be true last weekend. I have never fished Ocean lake for that many hours in a row and not came up with something. Granted, Mat R. did relatively well last Saturday there on Ocean and I partly attribute that to landing right on top of the fish and partly luck (some people call it skill) That's just my opinion though.
We didn't do well on nocturnally feeding species IE: walleye and ling though. That seems to be the big difference with a full moon, night fishing suffers. And it was skill. ;DIt had absolutely nothing to do with accidentally setting up 24 tip ups over a school of perch the first day........
For me I just go when I can and enjoy the day out and if the fishing is hot than that is a bonus. I have heard fishing just before and few days after a full moon the fishing for big fish can be good. Here is a good solar table for anyone interested. http://www.usprimetimes.com/stateselect.html Hope this works and helps
