Minnow reg change
« on: Dec 08, 2011, 01:53 AM »
I can't wait for the changes in the regs on minnows to go into effect on the first.  Ken from the outdoorsman in worland called while i was there and the proposed changes on that item made it.  It'll make getting good size minnows for the lake much easier for those of us coming from worland.  May be moving to thermop before that goes into effect.

You might want to have this thread moved to the Wyoming page. Glad to hear your minnow-quest should be easier.

Sorry that's the wrong link.  I'll try to get it right.  There were some changes in area 2.  The new regs should be coming out soon.  We'll be able to take minnows trapped or seined below boysen dam up into the lake after the 1st.  Up until now we've had a tough time with minnows beyond fatheads.  Those are great for perch and such but i prefer a larger minnow for walleye.  I picked up some fatheads from marvin yesterday.  He does a great job of keeping them around for us.

Hey minnow guy.  You had some good size fatheads this weekend.  Didn't do well at poison.  Don't really fish it but i had some bites even tho i didn't get to stay long.

Hey dfauverii, who is Marvin. Can a guy buy larger minnows from him? Do you know if all the bait shops are going to carry larger minnows along with the fat heads? Thanks..........fishon

Talked to the biologist from Sheridian today. Minnows have to be State Certified to use in Healy or Desmet. Cannot seine the minnows yourself.

The guy up at the A-frames has em.  He's got all sizes.  Picked up a couple dozen from him friday morning as well.  First time getting them there.  Seems like a hell of a guy.  There's a sign out front.  Not sure if i'm allowed to give out these guy's numbers or not on the site.  The A frame guy said his computer is messed up and he has been unable to get on this site.  Let me know if it's ok and i can put that info on this thread.

Really looking forward to minnows on DeSmet.  I think using minnows at Healy will be an expensive way to catch 7 inch perch
