tipup noodles
« on: Nov 28, 2011, 08:49 AM »
Hey guys this works great on all tipups just take a kids swim toy aka Noodle and cut them to the length you want slit the side to slip over the shaft that way when you go to pull them and the ice is built up around them they come right out just give em a little sqeeze they are great.I thouth of this idea 3 years ago we fish in montana fort peck dam and we leave our gear in over night and with good hole covers and noodles its a breeze gathering and moving tipups.
I admit it I am an Ice O Holic

(Fish) it's what's for dinner

Any way you could post a picture of one you've assembled...I'm not really following what your saying...mostly the placement of the foam.."noodle".
Take the pledge, be safe, enjoy every second of life and lets go JETS!

fishing in montana for years I have spent hours trying to bar my tip ups out. This is a great idea. I have already begun dissecting my kids noodles.

from the sounds of it, im assuming he means cut a piece of noodle, maybe 6 inches or so, slice it lengthwise so you can slip the shaft of your tip up into it, and when you put your tip up in the water, the 6 inch piece of noodle will be sitting up and down, at the water line so when you get a skim in your hole you squeeze the noodle and that will come free of the ice...  i dont think it will work with my traps because I think my spool is bigger than the foot print the noodle will make -- but its def. worth a try

What about black pipe insulation tubes?
You could get smaller sizes and your kids wouldn't get mad about getting their tubes cut up.

Fine idea and it would also protect your shaft from getting scared up by the dreaded chipper.
