Cabins for icefishing weekend?
« on: Dec 07, 2011, 09:35 PM »
Hardwater Brothers,
Looking for some wisdom on a good spot in the to rent a cabin for an icefishing weekend on January 20th. As i'll have some newbies a lake with panfish and walleyes is preferred. Looking to stay within 3hrs of the bridge. Thanks for the help and c'mon first ice!!!

In my opinion I would make the trip up to Little bay de noc and stay in kipling or gladstone area, Great walleye action and a good perch bite too... I know a few of the cabins in the area are open all year, only a few hours past the bridge to

Thanks, berg. Can little bay be fished without sleds or quads? We have portable shanties but no on-ice transport.

It can be its a big body of water though... But by the end of January the north part of the pay starts getting truck traffic, last year it did at least see how the weather plays out.... You may be able to rent sleds or quads in the area I am not sure though.

Id go with lbdn and just drive your truck all over the north part of the bay and there's always walking distance options around the Gladstone area.  By jan 20th you should be able to drive a Tank on the ice down there....not saying anything isn't possible! There really isn't any better fishing then the lake Michigan water on bbdn or lbdn in the U.P. opportunities for wall hanger walleye..perch...white fish...burbot and zebra mussels!  Good luck at whatever place u choose.
