What kind of line would you use on a ice rod when fishing for pike or bass.
The only good thing about unemployment is more time for fishing

If its just on a rod i usually use 8-10lb fireline with a 15lb steel leader on the end. On tip-ups and rattle reels i use 20-30lb braided line with a 30lb steel leader. I've found pike and bass in the winter dont really care about the presentation of the line.

I use 4 pound Fluro-carbon line.  It's the only type of line that is truly invisible on my camera.  I think it makes a big differance when fish are being picky.

I've tried all types of lines. Fluro-carbon line works but it has a problem spooling up and getting a birds nest. You cant go wrong with berkley fireline 6lb test. Caught a 41inch, 20lbs pike last year on 6lb fireline....( NO leader also) Its tough stuff.. Good Luck
