Lindy Rattl'n Flyer
« on: Jan 31, 2012, 01:54 AM »
Has anyone used these in Northeast Pennsylvania and if so how did you make out with them.  I got the 1/8th  ounce since the 1/16th was sold out and figured smaller would be better.

So far this year they have been my go to jig for perch. I would go with the clown red in a 1/8th oz. Where I have been fishing the bite has been consistent, so I have been really be aggressive with them and that seems to work good.

I've just been tipping them with a minnow head, but it all depends on what the fish are looking for. If you try one thing and aren't having very much luck switch baits and drop it back down. On a good day they will probably bite on anything, but for me a minnow head or even a tail works good!

i like putting on a dropper chain for those finicky bitters. I tip with spikes or wax worms. Gold is my favorite color

I did really well on a popular Northeast PA lake on early ice. Was missing a lot of strikes and like the above post, went to a dropper chain and single hook. Usually though I will go with the 1/16th as it is still a fairly large profile. Sometime they are attracted to the rattle but won't hit, so it pays to have a small jig handy as a change up.

What is a dropper chain, I've never heard of or seen one.

I used one yesterday on a nepa lake tipped with waxies.  Didn't catch anything with it.  Same hole afterward a chrome Swedish Pimple with waxies caught 2 perch.  I would try it again though.  One time doesn't mean much...

great lures, my go to color is orange green holo with the glow yellow back. use it both with a dropper and as is, tip with either a wad of spikes, an eyeball or minnow head. and like others have said keep another rod handy with a small presentation to get the lookers to bite.

I tip them with spikes minnow heads and mosies.  It really depends on the fish that day on how to jig.  Some days its a just banging it off the bottom then just little wiggles other days its rapid 1 ft jigs.
