Looking for an Ice Suit.
« on: Jan 20, 2012, 07:31 AM »
With all the ice suits out there, Its hard to decide what is what.  How would you rate each suit?  Some are warmer than others, some are more water proof, and some are just too expensive to even consider.

What do you have, what do you like or dislike about it, or wish it had?

If you don't want to spend a lot check out the sportsmans guide ice suit. I bought and it's warm and under $130

I bought Arctic Armor last year because of the flotation properties. It is an extremely warm suit and doesn't breathe like G@retex. I have spoken with many Smurfs who think the blue is a good suit. Just my 2 cents....

I have Arctic Armor and really like it for flotation, warmth and being light weight.  It is waterproof and very wind proof too.  I think the Striker suit is more like a snowmobile suit.  Maybe built a little heavier than the AA for just that reason.  I think they are about the same price so check it out too if flotation is on your mind.  The Frabil suit I checked out seemed very well built and heavy.  Price was more and it had no flotation but it was a very nice premium suit in my opinion.  Built to last.

I was thinking between the striker suit and the guide gear.  Im not too worried about flotation, just want waterproofness and warmth.

I would go with the striker ice suit. Great suit and top notch customer service. Way better quality than the aa suit.

I wish I had bought the Striker. It floats, It has vents, it has everything Arctic Armor doesn't
I bought Arctic Armor last year and have regretted it since. AA is warm, customer service is really bad, AA floats, I am told, you will sweat profusely in AA because there are no vents. Buy anything but AA is my recommendation.  Striker sounds great and about the same price. If you aren't worried about the floatation, you can save some money and buy some very warm suits from many other sources, but if the floatation thing is important than Striker is the only way to go.

Got the frabil ice suit for x-mas. So far I'm realy pleased with it. It blocks out the wind and seems to be good and waterproof. You can get it on the internet for under $200.

I got the striker lite and wow am I pleased. It was sort of an pulse buy, going a few extra bucks over what I wanted to spend.

I just spent the weekend in single digit temps with only a pair of jeans, cotton t shirt and a flease sweather, never getting cold.

I am very impressed with the suit and happy I went the extra bucks.

Now I have to figure out how to keep my hands warm while baiting hooks

Thanks for all your input.  Any questions about the suit let me know
