Les Davis Spoons
« on: Jan 28, 2011, 01:12 PM »
Hello, I know this is a shot in the dark but here it goes. I went to Alaska when I was a kid(79') and used Les Davis spoons, we caught all kinds of fish on this lure. I'm trying to find a specific lure. pink with a white lightening bolt down the middle, they came in a pack 3/8,1/2,5/8oz.. I'm collecting old lures and would like to have any one of them to help complete the collection. I been searching for this lure a long time, most of them were sold up north, Canada and Alaska. Go thru your grampas tackle box please!  Anyone willing to sell me one would be greatly appreciated and bring back some good memories of the grandparents. Thank you. Beets

Thank you very much. I didn't catch much when we went fishing, but when we got those lures it seemed we caught everything. dolly vardens, graylings, trout.
We also fished the Yukon river. I'll never forget those guys standing knee deep in that cold water, shoulder to shoulder for almost a 100yrds. I was getting 50cents a fish for cleaning them. Can't remember where it was, but you had to take a roped barge to get across like the one with Clint Eastwood in "The Ballad Jose Wales". The salmon in that river were almost bigger than me. Grampa bought some deer hair jigs, we caught 2 salmon. We drove up there in a VW van. The Alcan Hwy was covered with fist sized rocks for hundreds of miles. We went thru 3 tires and 2 oil pans and made a steel mesh grill to keep the rocks from knocking out the headlights. I would love to go back there some day with my daughter and thanxs again. Bob B

I was just down at boondocks in Eagle river and they have a whole selection of them.  The phone # is 907-694-2229.  Give them a call they might be able to ship you some.  Ask for Jeff, he is a buddy of mine and he should be able to help you.
I was born an Alaskan I just didn't live here at the time.

Hot Rods... ah yes, I remember catching silvers and humpies with them in Sitka during the 70s. Super Dupers were another go-to lure. When I moved out to bush Alaska it was the Daredevil with a little piece of yarn that caught everything from dollies to pike.
See you up the trail.
