You can get a pair at Wal-mart for about $25.
Nothing fancy, but they work.

I have the Uniden model #GMRS 520. It is very decent, compact, and easy to use.
Durable? Well, I've dropped it more than once with no ill effect.
Reliable? Absolutely, except when I forget to turn the damn thing off.

I have a set of Midlands that I bought from Walmart a few years ago... Bought them for hunting. They have all the bells and whistles... rechargable batteries with the charger ect......... They work very well out on the lake, but Ill buy new Motorolas before next hunting season. The range is the weak spot with these units. If you're in the woods... trees hamper reception... snow and hills also. I guess what Im saying is, spend a little extra and buy a better radio or you'll wind up like me: Buying the darn thing twice!
