So I finally convinced the fiancee that the cottage-route would be a good way to go for the honeymoon.  The wedding is a long way off (next labour day) but I want to do my homework and get a good spot.  I'm looking for a nice clean cottage for 2 (and a small dog) for a week starting next Sept 4th (2012).  Looking for a good fishing lake, nice swimming off the dock, all the amenities to keep her happy (plumbing, stove, fridge, tv, fireplace, etc).  Accesible with a car (all wheel drive towning small boat) is key.

Anyone have a good experience somewhere particular, or have a nice place they'd like to rent out?

I'm ideally trying to stay in Ontario

My sister-in-law let my brother fish during their honeymoon. Of course she did have worms....... There I went again.

DL, if you're interested in going a little further away and giving up a few amenities such as the TV and be willing to leave your boat at home - think about Quebec.  I have gone to Outfitter Wetetnagami several times.  Www.Wetetnagami.com. It is very secluded and you'll have some fantastice fishing for walleye and pike.  (no bass up there).
Would it be the week before Labour Day or the week after?
At any rate, having a wife willing to go on a fishing honeymoon is pretty awesome!  Good Luck!

thanks Otto, I will check that out.  actually, the best cottage trip we ever had was in quebec, I can't remember the name of the lake, but it was awesome and the cottage was great...but the guy sold it and they no longer rent it out.  I will check out that outfitter...but it's gotta look like a "cottage trip"...if it's a fishing charter, deal might be off  @)
So, leave the boat at home?  I'm not a huge fan of shore fishing....done too much of that to give up my 'new' boat
It's the week after labour day

No, not a charter.  Included in the rent of the cottage is a 14' alum boat with a 15 hp motor.  I would call JC the owner and talk to him about that week and a good description of the fishing and cottage. It might be a little cooler that week up there, especially at night.  I'll bet the fishing will be awesome though.    Its your honeymoon, you want it to be memorable for all the right reasons.  ;)
