Fighting the slush monster
« on: Feb 28, 2011, 12:36 PM »
Hit PV on saturday with my boy and friend, the slush was horrific.  It was 6 inches of fresh powder, then 6 inches of slush, then 10-12 inches of solid ice.  i should have worn waders.  i also deserve a bad parent of the year award, i forgot my sons snow pants so he was wet the whole time.  the slush was so bad too, you couldn't see where holes had been drilled so my son had the luck to step in one and sunk up to his nuts in cold water.  luckily we had a tent and heater...  i will say the size of perch caught this trip was bigger, and my buddy caught one small surprise catfish.

here is my kid chowing on a mango and drying off.

here are the fillets, i am getting good at filletting perch...  i cleaned up about 20 in 20 min, and i am getting a lot of meat off the little boogers.  i probably wouldn't have kept half of the fish i did, but my son insisted on keeping all of them.

All's well that ends well- the kid looks like he's enjoying himself. Good job- but I have to ask, what's the "frog" package in the bucket????

HAHA it's just a book that he's been reading!  I told him to bring something to look at in case he got really bored.
