Seriously though, I know a 118 acre lake is tiny, but come on, 15 feet?  We've had some morons pull that same crap on a 3600 acre reservoir here too. But I agree, it's worse when you're boating. Some guy kept trolling by the wife and I as we were doing well jigging for walleyes, like 10 feet close. I finally got fed up and started tossing the walleyes we were going to release into his boat as he trolled by- he got the hint.
That would of been cool to see. I bet the first one shocked him.

I'll have to look at some memory sticks- I actually recorded it. You can hear my wife in the background pleading with me not to do it again ;D

I never shower before I fish. Come to think of it...I've never had a happy ending when I didn't shower either. ;)

And with that post, I go from rookie to regular. ;D

You know, here in Wi. we really don't have to much problem with this. Or maybe there is just enough room for everyone. I know that I have had fisherman come up to me and ask if it is OK. I tell them I do not own the lake -river so fish where you want. I have seen guys set up fence on the ice, fine with me ,there is a lot of places to go.     Jerry

Maybe it's a Wisconsin thing. The last time anyone was close to me, I had actually parked my shack on top of his holes from a few days earlier. He asked if he could fish just outside my walls, and I loaned him my auger to drill with.

Why not go strike up a conversation with him and let him know in a nice way that you feel he is set up too close to you?  Point out that if either of you hook anything of any size that takes a run, you will both be untangling lines, etc.

You never know, you might make a new friend.

-Jeff

Jeff makes a good point. You might find that if you do this you'll feel better when you leave the lake. Isn't that whats fishin all about?
Just like it, only diffrent.

A little conversation never hurt anyone. The guy that was next to me turned out to be a childhood neighbor of my ex wife. Heck of a nice guy with a few tips offered on the lake we were on.

Yeah, me neither, seems not too many people set up close to me. Maybe I need to shower?

i mean that if someone comes up and plops down right next to me, i dont' have a problem with it as long as they don't bust out a boombox and start blaring music.  i'm fairly friendly though and enjoy talking to people though.  and more often then not, i'm able to extract much more info from them than the other way around

I know how you feel....but 2 years ago I was on Lake Walenpaupack in Pa and the ice was thin,I was by myself and there were 2 guys fishing close the "good spot" a stream coming down into the lake this area was loaded with giant Bluegills in 4 to 5 feet of water, very small area. I asked if they would mind the company and they said no, I said I would even give them some fish.they turned out to be the nicest guys. They even shared there Venison stew, and I gave some of my fish. We talked and traded stories about our lives they were from Scranton and I was raised in  Newark NJ.The point is, maybe the guy just needed to talk or could be afraid of being alone on the ice, like I was.

I was on a very large lake in Canada (17 miles long) and a guy kept trolling within 10-20 feet of me.   Each pass he moved in a little closer.  Finally I asked him if he wanted to join me in my boat.  He took the hint and took off.
