Ice Opportunities near Killington?
« on: Jan 04, 2011, 02:29 PM »
Greetings from CT.  One of my best buds is getting hitched and we're coming up to raise hell in VT.  We're doing a two-night stay during the first weekend in March.  The crew mostly consists of ski bums, but I'll be taking a few of them on at least one ice excursion.  I would love to either target lake trout or pike.  The house where we are staying is very close to the Killington Access Road and abuts land that hosts Kent Pond.  Any info via PM or here would be greatly appreciated.  And in return, if anyone is ever looking for info about CT (doubtful), fresh or salt, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Kierran

Probably your closest and best bests are Lake Dunmore on Lake Champlain.  I have not done a lot of fishing on Dunmore, but I used to catch a lot of lakers in the southern bays, like Arnolds and Button Bay.  Check those boards for ice conditions and catch updates.  GO HUSKIES!!!

Check out the lakes along route 100 south of there.  They would be closer.

I can't remember what town it's in but you could check out Rescue Lake.  It's south of route 4 if you had east out Killington.  I know there are trout in there but I don't know about lakers.

Just check Dunmore's regulations! You have to fish south of Sucker Brook untill the 15th of Jan.... No idea were to go to get on the south end of dunmore but it is a great lake to fish!.....
Fishin Ain't easy but it's better than work

Bump.

Edit:  House is in the town of Killington.  I am strictly looking to target lake trout now if that helps.  PM's welcome if you don't want to share with the masses.

Thanks in advance.

Bump.  Trip is in two weeks.  Thanks for the info.  Sounds like I'm leaning towards Echo.  Will stop at Steve's bait shop for bait, but hopefully I can get into some smelt too.  Appreciate any suggestions through PM.

TTT.  The trip is this coming weekend.  Thanks again for all of the PMs and replies.  There will be a group of us on Saturday somewhere on Echo or Rescue.  Not expecting much in terms of action, but would like to get a flag or two for these guys.

How deep is the snow on the ice?  That will limit our walking distance from the lot that's for sure.  Thanks again.
