Last Trip of the Season
« on: Mar 15, 2011, 05:32 PM »
After a VERY SLOW unproductive season of pike fishing had to get out one last time. Tried to get out on the usual places I go for pike but unfortunately the edges were gone beyond what I concider safe so went to plan B for the following day and headed for colder teritory. Flags were popping even before all 5 were out. Lots and Lots of small pickeral, way too many for one day! Went thru all 3 dozen shiners by 1 pm. Fortunately had 2 nice bass and 1 large pickeral mixed in to keep it interesting. More than once 2 of the flags were up at one time so it kept me running. All 3 of the larger fish were really taking out line fast, the big pickeral almost spooled me. It was fun but I will be glad to try for pike again next ice season (hopefully with better luck!). Sad to say it but my ice season is done for this year.

Very good job getting out there!  Bigbry I haven't ever been laid off but, am now.  I will get a nice one for you tomorrow and provide an ice thickness update based on Lancaster area.

Thanks guys.
Wish we had a few more weeks. It was a really tough year between all the snow, wind and rain we had. Already looking forward to next ice and it just ended.
