Anyone been hitting Mosquito?
« on: Feb 17, 2011, 11:17 AM »
Just interested to see if anyone has been having results out there on skeeter.  I was last there on sunday on the south side.  Got one walley and 2 perch.  Moved a bunch, fished humps and adjacent deep waters.  Single eye came on a hump in 10 f.o.w.  Did not mark many fish at all.  Do you guys think they may be up way shallow with the fresh water run off or should I keep banging the structure till I find them.  Lookin like we all have to work fast with these temps!  Thanks all.

I was out tuesday & wednesday fishing the roadbed by cemetary. I mostly caught crappies, some keepers but no slabs and small bluegill. Marked a ton of fish deep and suspended but they were hard to catch. Ice was still solid out there..a little water in spots on surface. Probably going to wait until sat or sun to see what this warm up did. I'd still like to find a walleye or two

I went out Saturday, drove to cemetary first. There was open water/busted up ice by shore, didn't want to chance it solo. Headed south by and talked to guys coming off who caught 2 small perch all morning. Still didn't want to venture out solo even though others were out there. Next drove to bouy line and a group was walking off so I waited for them. They caught 1 crappie and were headed to cemetary. I told them about the shore but they wanted to see it. We ended up getting on but had to walk about 10-15 yds on seperated ice sheet that was trapped between shore and solid ice. I felt safer w the company but still...
Ice was solid once we made it on with random small open pockets of water out there. We fished some humps north of road bed one of the guys knew about. Nothing for a while so 4 of us went to road bed and other guy stayed out but headed further west. We got nothing he got a perch crappie small walleye I guess but we walked off early before him to get back to shore before dark. I'm guessing w colder temps lately the shore froze back up but not sure. I went to pymy Sunday w a buddy and caught a couple dozen gills(kept 15) and a nice crappie. Pymy seems more productive and ice was solid all over out there.  Not sure when/where I'll get out next, pm me if ur headed out to skeeter this week, maybe we could meet up if I'm not working.
