I have the Strikemaster Electra 7" and love it!!! Last weekend I was able to get 25 holes out of 1 battery in about 12" of ice. I do carry a spare battery.

I did have a battery issue pretty much out of the box and I replaced it with a new one and it works great. After reading some of the posts here I am going to give Strikemaster a ring and see if my battery was part of the bad batch.
Do you still have the old battery? There is a date code on top of it. You can go to the StrikeMaster web site and figure it out.
Also, regarding the recycling thing. I always hand on to mine and then when it is time to get a new battery for my boat, car, lawnmower etc., I have one that I can easily take into the store and they will accept it for exchange so I don't get charged the extra for not having my old one.  ;D

I made my own adapter so i can us my 1/2 corless drill on my 6" Lasar and can drill about 14 holes on one battery. Its a cheap way to do it if you have a good 1/2" drill. If you make one or by a adapter make shure it has a handle on it so if it comes out of the drill chuck you don't loss your auger.
i have done the same, works great on my 5in lazer[just jig fish]
 ;D ;D ;D ;D

so earlier I posted I got the Strikemaster Electra 7" went out this weekend drilled through 18" of semi frozen/frozen slush then 12" of ice. Blowing snow and wind all day auger sat out in in it and then was in the cold garage all night. I took it Sunday on the same battery no charge from the day before and got the green to drill....awesome piece of equipment!!

My new Strikemaster electric just arrived the other day. I haven't even used it yet but I guess I'd better check on this battery/date thing first eh?

just looked at the strikemaster they could be hooked up with a disconect and run of a sled or atv and charged at the same time. I think i know what my next auger will be.

Wow am I glad I'm on here at IS. I just got a new Strikemaster Electric. I read here about a battery problem and decided to check mine out. I have the 'Bad' battery and I called them up to inquire about it. They said there were some battery issues and they would send me out a new battery today via UPS.

Many thanks guys for posting this problem as it saved me a lot of time and trouble as well as what would have meant a disappointment in the product.

I sold my old Lazer/Express that I'd had no real problems with to a friend so I could purchase the electric as I'm getting too old to yanker anymore. The Cancer and Chemo treatments have me running out of steam in short order and, I'd have been sorely disappointed if I couldn't drill 20 plus holes for my Run n' Gun method of finding fish. The battery won't arrive before I hit the Oswego area tomorrow so I'll take my extra batteries along as well as the charging stuff and lead cord for a sled if I'm lucky enough to have one nearby.

Maybe after the new battery gets here the old one will serve in my Vex-20 for a few years as it only needs 400 watts to do it's excellent job of finding fish. Again, many thanks for posting this problem before I even knew I had it.

That is what I am using my old battery for! It will not charge above 11.4 volts, but my Humminbird runs just fine on it!

I would be interested in seeing a picture, if you have one to post. I have thought about it, but was not sure how well it would work.

PM me to swap information on fishing holes or to go fish'in sometime in the Syracuse Central NY area (Onondaga and Madison county water holes in particular).
