Buddy (w/bait) no show ??

I confirm with a buddy Sat at 5pm for Sun outing at 5am meeting at our access area. It was his
turn to bring the bait as I picked it up last two outings. He no shows. I set up with
Gulp on the bottom and landed two lakers. The first was while setting up (first thing) lowering
the bait to the bottom laker took off with the bait - 4 pounder. Second fish took "dead bait"
on the bottom 1/2 hour later - 3pounder. I fished for another hour with no action and the wind
started howling so home by 11 am w/good supper fish..My plan was to set up 7 lines and then
cut a bunch of holes and jig just never got around to setting tip up #7 and no jigging. I have down well
with gulp before on eyes and smallmouth but was a first for lakers.

Wow, Thats the first time I've heard a report like that. Makes you wonder. Thanks for sharing that one As for your buddy I dont know if there is much that can be done for him

I take it your buddy isn't a Shanty member.     That sucks but I geuss it worked out well for you in the end.  Gulp is killer for SM bass in the summer.

Sounds like you made the best of a crappy situation.  I have tried the gulp for browns before but it is good to know the lakers will hit it.

Used to fish with a few gusy like that...emphasis on "used to".....they are still my friends, but if they are not overly dependable.....I don't plan a.m. fishing trips with them....glad you got some

He had been dependable for 5 years but not this season.
I know I fish hardcore but have no problem fishing alone:)
