Oak Swamp
« on: Jan 27, 2011, 04:01 AM »
 Very cool Halloween.
Oak Swamp in Johnston off rt6 is a VERY good pond I agree. Good to hear there is safe ice. I would say its the best pond for jigging I have ever found. Very little pressure, Lots of bass and pickerel to, never saw any smallies myself. The best jigging for me was to the South end near the dam. Any jig worked as long as it was tipped. Do you eat the fish from there? --------SS

oak swamp as far as i know is kinda private, only people who live on the pond or have property around the pond can fish it, atleast thats for the boat ramp access.  i doubt your gonna be able to park on the side of the road with all this snow.

Take a left onto reservoir rd. pass the dam on your right. The very next street on the left, it wasn't posted the last time I was there. You could also continue around the pond, just before the camp is a fire department access btween two houses that must remain open. ----------SS

I'm going to drive around Oak Swamp on Saturday 1-29-2011 , I'll post the best parking spots with the best street parking from around the lake.
I have a friend that lives on Shore Dr. I have about 5 people heading out on Sunday , I'm trying to pile all of us in 2 trucks.
Anyone else interested fishing Sunday ?
I'll drag my gas auger out to speed up the setup time .

After work today I checked out the O/S pond access. Theres a ton more N/P signs up but the best spot is still open 1/2 way down Shore drive. HAVE FUN!!------------SS
