no spray on....stuff sux.........spar varnish works great.....sand , stain, dry, quick 200 grit sand the 1st coat spar....BUT>>>>  do ONE side of all 5 tilts first......then let dry.......then do another side of all five and so on until all parts are done evenely and sand down any drips, then quick 200 grit sand in between coats..........3 coats  good luck          also take all the hardware apart ie, screws reels etc...leave reel bolt and trip shaft attached

if you do it right they will look awesome!

I did all my traps with Teak oil this year. Goes on very nice and there's not much drying time. They look brand new now. I plan on doing them every couple of years.

Hmm, sounds like something for the off season!!  Wish I tought of this sometime between April and November!!

So three different products mentioned...do spar varnishes, linseed oil, and teak oil all seal the water out and make them last longer?

I don't really care how good/bad they look as much as I want to make them last longer.  If painting them pink with purple polka dots made them last longer, I'd do that, haha.

If you are gonna take the time to stain or paint or poly them. May as well make em look good at the same time.

Oh, no doubt.  I'm just wondering which of the products mentioned would be best for them, that's all.
