Radios

I can't believe with all my years of icce fishing I don't know what this is but I just have to ask.

I keep seeing posts talking about FRS? radios and channel 7-(fill in number here).  What exactly are these radios and where could I get one.  I like the idea of people on this site having a channel to communicate if they happen to be on the same lake.  We use the motorola radios you get at wally world but I'm prety sure these aren't the same.

Anyway, thats my dumb question for the day.  Any info would be appreciated.

No such thing as a dumb question bud . The odds are the motorolas you mentioned are FRS because thats what I use .Like mine is the plane jane T5100 . There are also GMRS but they are not near as popular and most people have the FRS like my motorola Talkabout or another brand such as Cobra etc. You can talk from one FRS brand to another without a prob but some have sub channels while others dont, but like mine doesnt but I can still talk to someone who has the feature as long as their not using the sub channels .

Ahh, OK.  It's all clear to me now.

Dang, I was hopin I was going to get to buy a new toy.  LOL
