i could really use some better clarification on this,,sorry for beating a dead horse,,just want to make sure,,here are some new pictures of my fish,,most of you say its a channel,,but if you go to the nydec web    http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7046.html   and look at the pictures that they have,,my fish looks like a bull head,,whats your thoughts,,i just dont want to eat a record fish,,thanks for the help,

catfish, there will be no fork at all in the tail of a bullhead.

I'm thinking channel cat, tail has too much of a fork. To be sure count the anal fin rays: under 24 would be a brown(or black) bullhead, 24 or more means catfish.

Appears to be a dark colored Channel Cat to me! The Bullhead doesn't have that much of a forked tail. Here is a Bullhead;

Its a channel cat no if ands about it. Bullheads have a dirty yellow stomach. Total diff look. Your channel cat is just a little darker pigmentation then the norm but stll a channel

its a catfish but depending on the body of water it may be a white cat but def not a bullhead

definitely looks like a channel to me.
channel catfish ---Coloration is olive-brown to slate-blue on the back and sides -the upper jaw projects beyond the lower jaw-The anal fin has 24-29 soft rays-forked tail

There are slightly different breeds of bullheads and not all of them have the dirty yellow stomach. I would say this is a catfish but it does have a bullhead look to it.
