A kind stranger, more time to fish.
« on: Feb 23, 2011, 08:30 PM »
Started on one lake searching for Walleye, what a bust, then decided to hit another lake to jig for some perch. Only had about an hour/hour and half to fish before sunset, went for it anyway. About a 1/2 mile walk to my spot, so I began to burn some shoe leather when a snowmobiler rode by and turned around, then offered and gave me a ride to my spot, neither of us knew each other. I'd like to thank him for allowing me some extra time to fish! Not too many nice guys like that around any more. Anyway...I made due with the time I had, here's a few of the pictures. More were caught (before and after the pictures) and thrown back, these were kept.

Another example of one of my favorite parts about ice fishing; the other friendly fishermen. Its a shame they all can't be like that.

We had a guy and girl snowmobilers stop and drive us back to our car 2-3 years ago. We were really on a death march too, over a mile in fresh snow with tons of gear. They both refused to accept gas money, from all of us on two different trips. They weren't fishermen(women), just nice sled riders. You're right Oletimer, it's refreshing to realize that other nice people still exist out there.

This guy wasn't fishing either, he was just out tooling around on the lake, apparently after repairing his snowmobile. Had I been carrying cash, I would've offered a few bucks to him in thanks, but I rarely carry cash unless I'm going out of town. Instead he stuck around a little while and chatted, which I didn't mind at all. He thought my ICE-55 was "out of this world" when I broke it out, explained and demonstrated it, and admired my power auger as well.
