The camera only comes out if im bringing the girlfriend and we're sitting in the permy.

The flasher will change the way you fish and up your catch rate. All my friends/family were baffled when I bought one 2 years ago.. now everybody I fish with has one.

Flasher 100%! I have used both and in my opinion the camera doesn't even compare...

Both are effective tools.

The flasher will allow you to see a lot more than the camera, especially in deeper or dark water. It is also quick to survey an area if you are not familiar with it, in addition to see the fish and strikes below you. A camera can be invaluable to seeing how fish react to different things you do with the jig, and give you a more clear picture of the bottom/structure in the immediate area.

If you had to pick one or the other, I would say a flasher (or finder). A camera can be very useful in many applications as well though.  Cameras have a time and place, flasher will be down your hole every time you fish.

Both....they both have there time and place.  But I would definitely start with a flasher. I got an ICE-55 and love it and now I just a bought a Camera to compliment it.  Use the flasher to find them and the camera to see what they are.

Flasher all the way, you see the suspended fish which you can't see with a camera.   I didn't realize how many fish are 6-10 feet of the bottom or cruising under the ice. This is my 3rd season with my Vexilar and I still wonder how I fished without it.

Hi guys,
Not trying to put a damper on your thread, but there are a bunch of threads about this same topic under the equipment section... I will agree that my students really like to watch the fish on the camera and record the activity for projects and presentations.

Flasher first. That eliminates unproductive water. I set up my camera if I'm on fish and they respond but don't bite. Both are great tools but the flasher is the number one go to tool hands down.

Flasher, you really can't hole hop with a camera - at least easily.

Depends if you fish with kids.....I have both, but only take camera out when kids come with....they can watch the fish and seems to take some of the down time.
