Can anyone remember ice fishing without a Mod??

i can Chris, and it sucked here for us.  Wyoming didn't even have its own forum back in those days...  it took some serious petitioning/b***hin' to get recognized as the sovereign ice-fishing mecca that Wyoming is.

I remember when as a new Mod I politicked Scott until we got our own site as it is now (at BD's and others behest as I recall.)  I remember before I was the Mod when every derby info post that was threaded got deleted and moved, I remember no Info Thread with all the names and numbers of the bait dealers, derby dates, G&F/Boysen tel numbers blah, blah, blah...I remember lingering profanity-bombs, really bad ones, I recall when this site was a breath away from having a national Mod assume the position, but the thing head and shoulders above all else was the friends I made and fished with and the very few people I annoyed because I was one of them and only cared about ice fishing and facilitating same.  Together...we've all built something really great here and I look back with NO regrets.  LT out  

(And it is left in very capable hands.........btw, we tried it for couple of years with no Mod and we didn't much like it.)

You should try no Mod for a week or a month. Or a time to test it.

I wasn't around quite that long ago but I think this is year 3 or maybe 4 for me. I remember when we were paired up with "Ice fishing the west". You had to click on that...then down to Wyoming....that was also before LT was the mod I believe....we petitioned to get our very own section and not paired up too. That's the only petitioning I remember. I would really hate to see this place without a mod....especially now with all the new traffic.

I'm a mod on a different site....it is a hard job...one that makes it easy to keep things organized so the rest of you don't have to worry about it.  Without them things are chaotic and not so much fun.  My hubs wanted to join and I tagged along with him here.  I may sign myself up, because I really like the way things are done and the feeling of this site.  Much of that I think has to do with the hard work behind the scenes

I'm a mod on a different site as well. We always have about 1 guy every six months that wants to test us and see just where the line is. That along with deleting spam and other stuff that doesn't belong on a family site is a very busy job. A lot of the times mods catch things before anyone else even knows they were there or what's going on. I love being a member of the "Internet Police Force" and the mods (both retired and current ) do a great job on this site! I've never had a complaint with how things are run here. Very smooth fellas....and not just the Wyoming mods if any of you other officers are lurking around here.

I know this much - - -  a lot of what mods do is behind the scenes so it is easy to think that they don't do much - but much of what they do you'll never even know about.

By the way Trent, what are you still doing up so late? I know what I'm doing; Finally got the kids in bed, sitting here groggy eyed reading through posts for the umpteenth time today, replying to 15 new pm's, trying to put out the last couple of fires and loving every minute of it!!!

It was only 11 old man! LOL. Was watching "The Other Guys" with my dad....then figured I'd log back on to see if I missed anything!  . Went out to the gorge thismorning so it was a short night....ready to do it all over again as I'm heading out tomorrow too and maybe even tonight for some ling.
