Heading up to Spirit Lake this weekend
« on: Feb 01, 2011, 10:14 AM »
Breezy here  ;D, my buddy and i are making our 2nd ever trip to Spirit this weekend, we were here in December 2010 for our 1st trip and considering the weather, it was so foggy for the two days we were there that you couldnt see the shoreline 75 yds out, we had to use a gps to find our way back to the truck and the 50 mph wind about blew us off the lake, not to mention all the slush pockets around. But all in all i think we did ok by just looking at the lakemap, i think we ended up keeping 50 or so fatty jumbos and released 1 - 19'' Pike and 1 - 15'' walleye. we fished the Buffalo Run area and tried to find the weedbed south of the Marble Beach Ramp but i dont think we were on the right spot, our best luck i think came off of Red Nose Point and Reeds Run, anyway it sure would be cool if one of you veteran Spirit lakers could show us a couple good honey holes for wallys in the a.m. or p.m. spots over some weeds or rockpiles, that way we could spend our 2 days fishing on some good structure spots instead of using 1 of the 2 days we have to fish scouting. We are staying at Pioneer Beach Cabins (cabin 1) and will be on a red Honda Foreman with tracks with front and rear racks loaded with everthing but the kitchen sink, so if you spot us out there flag us down and we can drown some minnows together, THANKS
