west central indiana ice conditions
« on: Jan 03, 2011, 07:47 PM »
Rockville lake is closed due to unstable ice condition until further notice....could be awhile some open water I was told.  Other ponds in the vigo county area have open water.  Several strip pits have opened completely back up.  To the north I go next weekend.  Here at my place we had over inch and half of rain not cool.

I have been thinking about hitting rockville this winter. I have never been there, but have always wanted to try it out. How has the fishing been down there?

Best bite for me at Rockville is almost always the hour before and after sun up.  Pretty tough after that.

I agree perch on ice. The gills bite best at dawn and dusk.  They are extremely difficult to catch during the middle of the day.  The crappie are sporadic even after dark.  Last time I drove by the park was closed with a cable at the entrance.
