keyhole report 1/08
« on: Jan 08, 2011, 12:12 PM »
Keyhole continues to fish well. Still getting good reports of decent walleye catches. Best bite is at dusk, but fish are being picked up thru out the day. Being told that wind creek is still giving up some big fish and Pat's Point and mule creek are putting out smaller eyes. Hav'nt heard much on crappie or perch bite as I think most are fishing for walleye.
Ice conditions are good and you should'nt have any problems getting any where on the lake, but as always use caution.

Found some spots earlier this week that where around 6 inches of ice.  It wasn't a problem until I drilled my holes then the water starting rushing through from the weight of all that snow.  Ended up with about five inches of water on top of the ice with my shack froze down by the time I left.  The walleye bite really was a lot slower than it had been, but we did pick up a few crappie.  They were biting very light!

And we recieved another 4 inches or so of new snow in the last 24 hours.  I rode the four wheeler over to the west end boat ramp & Talked to a couple groups just east of the ramp.  The report from them was SLOW & they were headed home before they got snowed in.  Nice SUNNY day with light snow at Keyhole at 9:00 am Sunday .....hope the sun stays for a while....we have more plowing to do here. ???
