It depends on how cold and the winds.  Usually gloves but if it really gets windy and cold, I'll switch to heavy duty mittens.

I have a pair of Arctic Shield gloves/mitts.  They have a nice thin glove for an under layer with a mitten with a flip back top to go over it.  Works great, keeps my hands warm and still allow enough dexterity for most things.  Bought them for coyote hunting but they've been more or less adopted into the fishing gear pile.
Its easier to beg forgiveness than it is to get permission

Depends on how cold it is for me.  I usually start off with rag wool  gloves or fleece glovemits.  I'm thinking about gettin some neoprene gloves.  As it gets colder i put on a  pair of OR over mits.  They are big enough to put on over my gloves and heat the hands up real quick.

I wear these things and could not imagine wearing anything else.  Easiest on/off I could imagine, turn your hands down and they fall off.  I'm not good at doing anything with gloves on and really hate having to stick them in my mouth to take them off if the other hand is busy.  One thousand percent waterproof, hands are toasty at -30.

I got a pair of the HT Black Mittens, they go on easy and are (mostly) waterproof.

I only wear them when I am outside checking Tip ups or drilling holes.

Inside the Shack, the heater is cranked and I fish without 'em.

ragwool glove/mits.... There isn't anything better for being able to stay warm and still be able to tie jigs and bait hook etc. I stuck my hand in the hole to grab a fish that spit the hook the other day, got the fingers soaked, i stuck the glove in my bibs and squeezed the water into my jeans, put it back on and was fine.. Sometimes my fingertips get cold on real cold days when the fish are coming out the hole nonstop but out of all the gloves I've used I rate them the best for ice fishing.

it depends for me. If it is really cold, or i am just fishing tip ups i like mittens. IF i am doing a lot of jigging, i like fingerless gloves better. When drilling the holes, or dragging the sled out, its mittens for sure.

I tend to go bare handed a lot, or wear my mechanics gloves w/ wool cut offs over them. Hoping to get a pair of arctic mitts for real cold weather this yr though.

Shooter's gloves. Index finger and thumb have individual fingers where the remainder are in a mit (keeps your whole hand warm... trust me). I like to wear just one (the hand that holds the pole). My niece got me a hunting hand muff that I keep my other hand (ungloved) in for reeling and grabbing fish. I stick a handwarmer in the muff. I know it sounds odd, but it works for me.

Currently using a pair of rag wool glo-mitts.  They have a thumb hole too, which is nice.

Neither....for some reason my hands never get cold no matter what the temp is.  Even when they are wet in the bitter wind....they never get cold.  My friends think I am some kind of freak of nature.

Just the cotton jersey gloves for me. Most of the time it's no gloves. When my hands get cold I step in the shanty and fire up the heater for a quick warm up. When the bite is fast and furious I'll be inside the shanty full time.

Both. All my gloves are oversized so I can shuck em quick. Use a pair of heavy duty, fleece lined, flexible pigskin gloves for dragging the sled and drilling the holes. Ragwool fingerless gloves for the jigging rods. Waterproof, insulated mittens with handwarmers inside for after the catch and after drying the wet hands. Also, as important as the gloves, I carry four rag/towels for drying wet hands because I usually wind up dropping 1 or 2 on the ice/snow and they freeze solid.

Ordered an Ice Armor hand muff ...
http://www.clamcorp.com/IceArmorClothing/GlovesMitts/HandMuff/tabid/518/Default.aspx
... that in conjunction with my fingerless neoprene gloves with hand warmers on really cold days will really do the trick.  A hand towel or two is always required after each catch to remove moisture/slime so my hands stay warm. I find full-fingered gloves or mittens just don't work for me while jigging.

unless im setting, up or breaking down shop i dont wear gloves or mittens.  Pockets work well enough for me if my fingers get chilly while fishing.
