Willard Resevoir
« on: Dec 20, 2010, 09:04 AM »
I heard guys out fishing this weekend. Can anyone tell me how thick the ice is, how far from the ramp and if any fish were caught ? 100 mile round trip for myself and I hate to make it for nothing.

my buddies fished willard today and had no luck... not even a fish.... only saw 4 perch on the camera the whole day and they didn't even look at the bait... they said that nobody was doing any good.  One guy worked his way around the whole reservoir and didn't get a fish... also heard east harbor is really slow...

Knute-

Ice is thick and clear.  Water is clear.  I think this has an effect on the bite.  When I was out, there was very little to no snow on the ice(mostly zero snow) and i think the fish can see you as you can see the bottom, the ice looks like glass.  I drilled 15-20 holes and no bite, not even a flash on the vex.  I went in close. out deep and nothing.  Let me know how you do...

Me and my dad and uncle went out on willard last night around 11pm to about 1 or 2 in the morning using various types of lures and bait and had just one little bite which i believe was a perch. we plan to go out again the 26 let us know if anyone else goes and does good. goodluck outhere and be safe.

Wally    My buddy and I fished 4 hrs. yesterday, 7 perch 1 eye lost 2   Drilled around 30 -40 holes. Caught just about every fish we marked. I agree, ice to clear and also full moon might have things shut down. Sure felt good to be out and pull in a few though.Going to try it after this next front goes thru, keep you posted.

Knute,

It was nice to have met you last tuesday. I was the fella that unloaded gear the same time you did.

It's the hunt, not the harvest that matter's most!!
