crappies in eastern south dakota

I love to catch crappies through the ice and was wondering if anyone could tell me about lakes in glacial lakes area. I have heard Lynn and Pickeral can be good. Is there crappie in Waubay? Do you use crappie minnows?

I fish Waubay religiously and to be perfectly honest - I haven't caught the crappies out of that lake like we used to in the past.  I'm sure they're still there however, but you have to spend a LOT of time hunting for them it seems.  Most of the fisherman & the regulars that I see up there will generally say the same thing.  If you are looking to try it @ Waubay right now though - I would suggest over by the Grenville grade area near submerged trees.  After the first few weeks of ice from the basics I know of crappie fishing - they start to move out to deeper water.

As far as the other area lakes... I'm not real sure.  Hope this helps and if anyone has any other info or corrections please share :)

In sept. we caught some nice crappies in both Lynn and Pickeral.  I haven't fished there in the winter (yet) but they are there somewhere and they have a good size to them too.
