Anyone have luck with dead shiners or powerbait?????

So I had a package of crawlers from walmart n my fridge that I forgot.  No big deal I'll stop and buy a few more on my way........they THREW them away before the Christmas.  I bought the pack from them over a week ago they are still fine   So I grab some of the power bait crawlers and some dead shiners of the shelf I had 3 flags and no fish the two parties around me both limited out and went home.  I wanted to puke so bad.  Just wanted a nice brookie or two for the kids.  Oh yeah we had 15 traps the others only had 5.

I couldn't even get a hornpout for the kids/  I tried!!

Yes it is we were there last week with some crawlers and hit 10 pout then while jiggin hit a nice 22" 3lb+ brookie

What kind of trout?

Dead shiners have worked ok for Bk. trout for me.

 Power Bait, not very good thru the ice, might just as well put a big booger on the hook. cheaper and most likely would catch more trout.
