Sulpher Creek Res Tactics
« on: Dec 18, 2010, 12:46 AM »
I am heading up to Evanston for Christmas with the in laws and am going to need to escape for a few hours.  When I was down there durring thanksgiving I took a drive over to Sulpher Creek to check it out and have been thinking I want to fish there since.  Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to catch some fish there and where I can find them.  Also any idea how thick the ice is this time of year?  Any help would be greatly appriciated, I really want to catch a few fish.  Thanks in advance!
Eric

I am new to Evanston but have been out there some.  The ice this year has been slow to materialize.  Was out there last weekend and on Saturday there was 4-5 inches of good ice and on Sunday the entire lake had water ontop of the ice.  We caught a handful of 12-14" rainbows.  I can tell you that a guy can drive to the dam and walk out there.  You need to watch out though, there is a place that don't freeze very good.  The turn to the dam is by a historical information sign and there is a sign by the dam showing the thin ice area.  The other access point is the boat dock off the highway.  Good luck!!

They really drained the resovoir this summer late. They have been filling it in the winter alot the last few years. There is a pipeline from the Bear River that comes into the resovoir out from the damn so when they are filling it, it is always a thin spot or wide open right above the pipe where the warm water comes in. It has ate alot of lunches over the years if you know what I mean. That is also why the edges are usually hosed up with water. Good luck.  Fishon
