ATV HITCH
« on: Dec 17, 2010, 05:22 PM »
I was wondering how to improve my stiff hitch on my ATV.The problem is when there is no snow on the ice and it is windy and when i'm pulling my scout with a stiff hitch if I turn when going slow the sled slides ahead of me and hitch gets caught on the rear wheel. This usually results in a not good thing looking for a way to make it stiff so don't slide into wheel.

look at your hitch on the wheeler, is there a way to put a "bar" across to prevent the tow hitch from "swaying"? or, maybe a "bar" on the front of the "tow hitch" so it can only move so far?
maybe a couple carbide skegs off a snowmachine as runners under sled?

the issue is common I take a short piece of rope and connect it to each side of the rear quad rack and then to the sled mid way back I'm sure long bungies would work  .this will take the swing out but still let the sled turn
If your going to go out with the boys,You better get up with the men.

I have the same problem with my fold-a-sled, usually with someone riding on it. What was mentioned to me was to add some carbides to the rear of the runners like on the snowmobile ski's. Should be able to pick up a used set, reasonable. The carbides should make it track.
