anyone have enough ice

First off, I am new to spearing and this site. This will be my first year spearing and I feel that I am ready to go out and be successful in no small part to all the advice that I have read here so thanks! I went out this last sunday but still did not have enough ice due to the heavy snow fall in the last 2/3 weeks. Anyone else have enough ice to set up on. And any advice for a new guy would be great.

Quite a few houses popping up around here. I haven't made it out yet. Still have a buck tag to fill. Best advice is to go out with someone who knows where to go for the first couple times. Or if you don't have that option for early ice,try to find a bay and set up in 6-10 FOW on the edge of a weedline where the pike will be roaming and feeding on fish holding in the weeds.

Been spearing for about 12 days now.  Ice has alot of frozen snow on it.  But ice is around 8 inches.  Fish are moving.

First time out will be on sunday checked ice today today and have 7" of honeycomb and 4" of solid blue on the bottom so it's game on!

speared on 12" of hard clear ice this weekend, plus it was -35 this morning so its making ice. So far a little on the slow side.

So how much ice is enough ice for you guys?  I think this is what most of us are thinking right now!  Lets here what you guys look for in order to pull out that shanty and cut your hole!
