this sweet weather ruined my trip to sheridan for today, probably just wait until wednesday, looks like the wind will be minimal and the temps will be up a little bit. does anybody know if the marina is open at sheridan yet? wal-mart in spearfish does not have waxies yet, and i'm not driving to rapid just to buy some bait.

Went out before sunrise and ~~left within~~ was blown off within an hour after sunrise! Reports of gusts up to 55 mph outside of Buffalo, WY.

Was a little windy today but still managed to limit out on crappies. Nothing huge, but a nice mess of eaters, and it was nice to have the first trip of the year be a success.

Ice is good pretty much everywhere around Custer.

Pretty deep up north, but fairly minimal down around Sheridan Lake. Prolly minimal around Stockade as well.

Fiend, No I haven't fished nebraska much. I went to College in Chadron, so we did get on Whitney Reservoir a few times. but that usually turned into a drunkfest.

Hopefully tomorrow. Went to Texas for Thanksgiving and been playing catch-up ever since. Brother in-law did well last week at the Valentine Refuge. No MA's but close on a few gills and perch.

The trigger finger is itchy.

Mornin everyone! I'll be out tomorrow afternoon. Either Sheridan or Lakota, haven't decided yet. Sheridan looks do-able for pike at the south inlet.

Man, I hope everyone is doing as well as I and my buddies are in the Hills. We've been clobbering HUGE perch and alot of better-than-usual pike. Seems like the bite is good everywhere at first ice......

sounds like a heck of a good time, wish I could be doing the same. Make sure to post alot of pictures this season gentlemen its gonna be the only way I make it through this winter with no ice.

Hey roy what aal lakes in the hills have good ice? Went past Sheridan last week inlet had fishermen on it. Have you been up to Lakota yet?
Curlew has good ice as does Wicksville dam.Good crappies and lots of small bass with 8" gills. Luck

How is the ice and the bite at Sheridan? I am hoping to get out next weekend if I can convince my dad there is safe ice.

The ice is pretty good in the channel by the hiway. It's still open in the middle tho. I don't want to send anybody to their doom, so I will just say proceed with caution, or wait one more week. There are perch there and they are biting if you decide to risk it.

I am sure you know this already but if not.....Walmart in Spearfish is now stocking waxworms. Bought a couple of them today so thought I would pass it along!

Don't forget fellas, this Saturday at Cabelas will be the first ice fishing showcase our area has ever had. There will be many vendors on hand to show off their products. There will also be 2 presentations, one on ice fishing techniques, and another of finese fishing with plastics. Should be a good time!!
