I cant help but comment on this post. I grew up in Watertown, spent 22 yrs in "NE" SD and I would 100% call Brookings NE SD. I would like to also apologize for the rude childish comments left by my fellow South Dakotans. By the way, you are living in a State that depends heavily on tourism dollars so you boys don't have to pay outrageous sales and property taxes. I would think in an economy like this you would welcome your brother to the "SE" with open arms. Tell you what, the fishing isn't as good where I live now, but you are welcome to Nebraska any time.

Disappointing.

Teach a kid to fish and hunt and they will be resourceful, smart and confident. Today's world is much different than the one I knew as a child. They need these skills even more than I did.

I don't know about the fishing in Neb, but you kind of sound like you would like to be back here for the fishing. I lived in Colorado for seven years and could hardly wait to get back here so I could hunt and fish without paying fees up the ying yang to do it. If ya knew where BucksNDucks actually lives, you would know that the joke is actually on us.   ;) ;D

When I lived in Colorado we used to tell people that we were heading to Nebraska for a weekend of skiing. We did get a more than a few strange looks.

You should send him a PM and beg.

there is no need to act like this.  We have a great group here at IS and a great group here on the SD forum, lets keep it that way.  We all have lots of information to offer each other and the guys are willing to help out those that come to ask for help.  Volt you are more than welcome to stay around and join in the commraderie that we have here and help others out but if you are here to cause trouble and be a troll then its probably best that you move on.

I haven't heard of any lake in particular doing well but from the sounds of it from my buddies the fishing right now is fantastic almost anywhere you go.  Gotta love early ice.

Dan I won't be catching any fish till hopefully December 28 or so...i am currently stuck in Texas doing some training with the Air Force and don't come back home till the 22nd for Christmas and then its only a short visit before I come back until the middle of Feb.  My buddies and I are planning a trip to Devils in March so that could be my only opportunity to hit the ice all season.

I wish they'd make the laws so that no one other than SD residents can fish on SD lakes. That would make my day. I hate seeing you and your sissy out of state friends out on my lakes catching my fish.

Wow, your trying pretty hard to win the D-bag of the year award!!!   In my book, you are already the winner.    All because you want to argue about whether or not Brookings is NESD ???

Is the fishing really better in SD in your opinion? I have never fished in Michigan, but have always thought the fishing there would be terrific. I have always thought there were tons of nice lakes there to fish on. I guess there are probably tons of people fishing also. At least here you can find a spot that isn't crowded.   ???

The last walleye I ate out of Lake Huron tasted like I marinated it in mud.  The weather here sucks.  The sun hardly ever shines in the winter.  There's just way too many people here for my liking.  So -- yeah, I guess the fishing was better at home in SD.

Good fishing is where you find it, IMO. One year I cut a hole in a county lake in SE Kansas with a Stihl chainsaw. could only cut a square and had to push it underneath the ice since I couldn't lift it out. Dropped my jig (on a 6' bassin' rod with a Shimano baitcaster) and was catching fish like crazy! Apparently they never saw a bucktail jig-n-pig in January! Then the ice popped and a crack ran from one corner of my hole to the dock maybe 10' away LOL! Ice was only a few inches thick and I ran like Wiley E Coyote to the safety of the dock. Not much ice fishing in SE KS but I found me some one day.
