I recently sold off a Strike-lite after 3 seasons (I picked up one of the first off the line) for a new Lazer Pro, 8". I really had no reason to sell it, other than I like to try out new gear once in awhile. I find if I don't wait too many seasons, a new piece of equipment doesn't cost me much. I paid $430 for the strike-lite originally and sold it for $400. Found a good price on the Lazer Pro, ended up only costing me $80 to make the switch. I never had a problem with the Strike-lite that wasn't my fault and highly recommend them to anyone.
Unfortunately, I still haven't had the need for a power auger this season but I've fired up the Solo in the driveway and it screams. I'm running the first tank of fuel @ 50:1 with Amsoil but will move to 80:1 or 100:1 from there on out. Even at 50:1, there was very little smoke but you get the 2-stroke smell, no matter what. The Lazer seems to have oodles of power and the engine rips, 12000 rpm and sounds like a high-end chainsaw.
I'm fairly certain the Lazer Pro will cut faster than the Strike-lite, so that's a little bit of a plus. But, who knows, maybe I'll be selling off the Lazer next fall for another Strike-lite.
