Ice Fishing Shelters - Lower Red River

Manitoba Conservation will be holding a public meeting to share information and solicit input from anglers, resource users, industry and the general public regarding Ice Fishing Shelters on the Lower Red River.

The lower Red River from Lockport to Lake Winnipeg sustains the most intensive winter recreational fishery in Manitoba. Over the last number of years, the number of ice fishing shelters located along the river has grown creating unique challenges.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss resource, environmental and public safety challenges associated with ice fishing shelters, and develop approaches over time to ensure a balance between the needs of the resource and environment, and the needs and demands of the public who use them.

For more information, please contact the Manitoba Conservation Selkirk office at 204-785-5080 or email brian.gillespie @ gov.mb.ca.

Early to bed,
Early to rise!
Fish all day,

That is one of the issues that may be discussed. Although I am sure it isn't going to happen. The banning of shacks isn't mentioned in the notice above ;) zeus

Could not make this meeting because of work.
