If they do, make sure you check to see if UPS will charge you a brokerage fee.  It's usually outrageous, but sometimes business set it up so that the brokerage fee isn't so bad.  I never order from the US if they use UPS unless they have the low brokerage fees in place.   I typically request USPS (standard post) if possible.

I've ordered stuff from the states, never again...the brokerage fees and taxes more than offset the lower prices.

Plus I had to wait around for half a day for the ups truck to show up... :%$#!:

Have yet to try anything from cabelas canada, that might work a little better.

I do a lot of online ordering, and the only issues you will come across is with UPS brokerage fees. And those depend on the company that uyou are buying from. I would take the above advice and as to send any items USPS, you may on occassion have to pay duty, but no brokerage fee.

A recent example, I spend $100 and had to pay $40 in brokerage fees.

As for having to wait all day.. you can sign and have it left at the door. I do that all the time with no issues.

Although I dont order any fishing tackle from US, over the past year or so I have ordered lots of accessories for my Polaris Ranger.

I agree with USPS being the best way to go, however some companies will only ship to Canada via UPS...you need to ask what carrier they are using.

Even if they do use UPS, you CAN call UPS directly and find out the brokerage, customs and duty costs that will be on top of the purchase price and the current exchange rate. Then you can do the math to see if you are saving any $.

Generally the brokerage costs get large when it is heavy or has a high value...

Even with UPS I always seem to come out ahead then trying to source the same item here in Canada. Fishing tackle IMO is not so bad....you can find most items in US in Canada or have a store order them in for you, (they are typically already set up to reduce broker fees.

My issue with UTV accessories is that the aftermarket manufacturers are way ahead of Canadian companies...so if you want something, the US is the only place to get it....so far I have been very satisfied with my purchases, and have saved a lot of money over buying Polaris accessories from my dealer.

2 cents

M.

depending on how much gear you order, and how close you live to the border, to save on shipping and fees you could get a mail box at a ups store. alot of places offer free shipping in states or next to nothing. just an idea.
