Yes, I have 2 weeks saved up every year just for fishing. I work 3rd shift and work monday night to friday night. So if I take fridays off I can fish for 3 days...
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

I get together with some great friends and we camp next to the lake for a week of ice fishing. Got to be one of the best times I have all year.
Take a kid fishing, they make great pack mules.
Put the big ones back for another day eat the small ones.

I have some of those "Use them or lose them" days also.  Have to take them by 12/17, so I'm burning through them right now.  But... on 12/18 I get 5 more "Use them or lose them" days.  I'll burn all of them before March 1 this year, and probably take another day or two on top of that.

Winter is the slow time for me so I can take several three day weekends a month without any hassle. I might do a week long trip over my birthday in january.

My Job requires I work a 2X2 schedule.
2 weeks at work and 2 weeks at home.
I fly to a remote oilfield camp (think ice road truckers) and work 13hrs a day for 2 weeks. :-\
Then I fly home and get 2 weeks completely off. ;D
No need for vacation time I get half a month off anyway.
If I did have vacation time I would definitely save some for icefishing though.

I use one week for a 9 day annual ice fishing trip with a group of friends. In addition, I use 5 days to take either Friday or Monday off  for ice fishing tournaments. That leaves me with 1 week for deer hunting and 1 week for the family vacation.

I'm still in college so I don't have the option to take vacations, but during our scheduled breaks I'm out as much as I can be. Once I get a job I definately plan on taking some time for hardwater fishing though.

When I was working I used to take the last two weeks of December as vacation. Now that I'm retired each week has six Saturdays and a Sunday.  ;)

I usually burn up all of my vacation in January / February every year.

This year (2011) I get my 5th week of vacation, along with 12 personal days, I will be off all of January, and most of February. (again)

It's better to have fun in the cold weather, then to try and work in it.

I usually try to save as much as possible for the end of the year. I used a little more than normal this summer to work on our house, but I still have 2 weeks left, plus 5 personal days. Vacation I have to use or lose, but personal days if I don't use, I'll get an extra check after the first of the year. I'm gonna use 3 days vac. next week, (with the holiday I'll get a whole week off) maybe a day for deer season, and the rest will be used over the Christmas holiday. Should be able to string it out to a couple weeks with the weekend, holidays, etc. Hopefully we have good ice by mid December, so I can start in fishing right away. Then after the first of the year, I'll use a day or two here and there to make a 3-day weekend if I want.

I've never had a job with paid vacation(Union Carpenter), but I have taken two week long ice fishing vacations. I took my wife last year and now she's hooked too, she's actually disappointed that she won't be able to go again for a couple of years as we'll be having twins in the spring.
I take most of my time off in the fall and winter, Ice fishing and Pheasant hunting are two of my favorite activities. I was actually giddy when I got laid off on Friday. My first two thoughts were 1) Pheasant season starts tomorrow and 2) I can think of two lakes with fishable ice. I actually felt a little cheated to hear that I was #2 on the job placement list.
