Heating Clam X4
« on: Nov 12, 2010, 11:19 AM »
Trying to decide what may work better in heating the big beast.  Using 2 buddy heaters, one on each side.  Or getting the Big Buddy(with hose) to heat the whole thing.  I have used the buddy in a 2 man flip and it performs well enough, I just don't think 1 is going to heat this house.  Has anyone out there fished int he X4 yet, if so what kind of heater was used?

Thanks

I'd go with 2 buddy heaters.  That way each guy can set his own temp.  If you go with just one, unless you can put it in the middle somehow, one guy will be freezing and one guy will be hot.

Why not get both?

I have the Clam Voyager, and I have a couple of different heaters.
I have a sport cat for the really nice days, I use it just to dry my hands.
Most of the time, I use my Buddy Heater, and it works great.

I do have the Big Buddy Heater, which is usually kept in the truck.  It is only used if it is really cold out.

I have my stuff very well organized in my shack, but I do have a few items that are in the truck "just in case".

I can make the change when I get to the lake if the conditions are not what I expected them to be. (Darn weatherman)

If you decide to go with the #20 and hose, get the more expensive Green hose.  It lasts longer, and doesn't need the filter like the regular hose.

I follow the old Ranger motto :  Better to have and not need, then to need and not have.

Hope this helps,

Wiener
