Ever think of using a muff and alternating hands or something?
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.

I like Mittens, when your fingers are together they warm up faster. Wool mittens are always with me.
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

I always carry two pair with me. As has been suggested a big pair of wool mittens as well as a pair of wool glove-mitts...the kind that has a flap that go over your fingers and make them into mittens. I use them most of the time since they make it easy to re-tie lures/lines.
But then if my hands get really cold I pull out the big mittens and get them warmer. Both pair I stick a pair of those little air activated hand warmers (tea bags) into. That way I always have warm hands.

I dont use gloves when fishing for the most part, just for traveling off and on the ice, as well as set-up and packing up. I won a gerbings battery hand warmer here a few seasons back, I love it, it works awesome and keeps the hands warm when needed

I use a pair of wool glove/mitts with a heat pack in the mitten part so when I have had them folded back they are nice and warm on my fingers when I put them back in the mitts. I also have a pair of Ice Armor Extreme gloves for when I need them.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

i like these.  i'm about to get a 2nd pair and cut the fingers off.  the pocket in the mitten for handwarmers is a huge plus.

the only issue is when the fingers get wet.  hence the reason i want a 2nd pair.

I leave the gloves in the shanty when at a flag.  For jigging I think the thin type (I think they call them neoprene) with rubber palm pads.

I also use 2 pair.  I have a pair of insulated leather mittens I use for walking to and from.  I keep a pair of mechanics gloves in my pockets for when I need them, but try to go barehanded whenever possible.  The mechanics gloves are also usefull for tip-ups after I watched a friend cut his hand on braided line when a northern decided to run.  stuff slices like a steak knife.

I wear one large warm pair of waterproof gloves for doing the dirty work  such as drilling holes , driving around the quad or pulling a sled. As for the fishing part I tend to only wear one glove or none. Hook+ gloves don't seem to mix :P
