Rainbows Spawning
« on: Oct 20, 2010, 04:01 PM »
We saw rainbows spawning last week at meredith bay . We saw ten to thirty each day trying to go up the stream to Mill Falls. Some were tagged and ALL were 16" to twentyfour " .
There must be a twelve step program for this

Sounds like the Snake River would be the place to be.
I wanted to hit Waukawan one last time, but with all the overtime I've been putting in, I've not had the time.
I better winterize the 25hp before it gets too late.

I guess that explains the behavior we have been seeing over the past several weeks. :-\

Last week we caught and released a bunch of small rainbows in the 12 - 14 inch range, that we caught on every thing we tossed at them. This week all of the small rainbows have moved on, and some realy nice rainbows have moved in, but would not touch anything we offered. :'(

It was pretty cool to see a preveiw of the fish that are going to be available for ice fishing this season though. ;)

We had the same thing happen to us at Newfound. There were several in the 3-4 lb range. Tried flies, worms, and lures to no avail. Could have probably caught them with the boat net. ;D It was pretty fun watching the males chase the females in a few inches of water.
