Fishing in the Berkshires?
« on: Sep 21, 2010, 11:14 AM »
Hello all,

My folks are going to the Berkshires for a couple of weeks during October. My wife and I are going to visit for a few days and I figure between her and my parents I've got to go out and find some fishing for some fresh air! :P The place is very north in Pittsfield, apparently the "Brodie Mountain Area". The actual accomadation is off of Brodie Mountain Rd. between Routes 7 and 43.

It seems there is a stream that runs parallel with the road, don't know how you would fish it - if it's the type of area you can park and walk or if it's heavily wooded or steep. I also see some big lakes somewhat nearby but I cannot judge distance with maps. Then of course numerous non-labeled ponds.

Any advice on streams, lakes or ponds with minal travel and moderate access would be extremely appreciated.  I like the looks of brook fishing as I don't mind targeting Trout. I am a Carp fisherman however so I'm not really looking for any Bass water. Pike are good though... I thought I heard back when that there was good Pike fishing in the Berkshires... but I can picture some snow maybe in Oct but no ice yet. :(

Thanks all.

Ed

Hey Baitwrangler, let me know when you are coming. I have a few spots that hold some big trout in your area. I can pick you up if travel is a problem. Big Browns in that river if you know where they are.
If fishing was work I'd never be sick!

Thanks for the info PK! Jeeze what fate we chatted a bunch last year about bait (before my name change if you remember).  Your my mass counterpart!

I will keep you updated with the dates when I ask my mother.  I bet my wife already knows but I try to avoid comprehending any plans she makes that are not within the next week or two. If I did I'd start forgetting to get up in the morning LOL.

Hopefully I can make this a good trip, I'm supposed to get my R ankle reconstructed at the end of October.  :o Do they make ice crutches?

Do they make ice crutches?

We'll just get you some chains for a wheel chair BW.   I'd say nails but that'd be murder on the hands ;D
