Pleasant Pond Caratunk

Haven't heard any reports on the fishing here this year. Did all the nice togue get caught out the past two years? That must mean the brookies are once again able to grow to good size.

There keeping it hush, hush. Seen a few over 10 lbs already this year. One 13 lber weighed in at Solon Bait,Bolt and Bullets the other day. Heard of a couple 15lbs also. They don't want the place a zoo again.  8)

I have a camp on pleasant pond and I'm up there quite a bit in winter. I haven't heard of any monsters coming out..But I did hear of the 13 lber. To comment on the brookies.....my nephew caught 4 off the dock this summer with a weeping willow and i have noticed quite an increase of smelts too...Personally I think opening the pond to ice fishing was a great success, and I hope they continue to keep it open. Now all we have to do is convince Inland F&W that there is ample public access to the pond and maybe they could add the pond to the States stocking program. After all they were the ones that decided to put the togue in there back in mid the 70's.

Well said paxter - that pond has the potential to be the premier brookie destination in the State! 8)

I watched the state stock brookies in pleasant a few years ago,and it was amazing the laketrout that came up to feed on them stocked brook trout. To bad you can't use brookies for bait icefishing for lakers. There are some big lakers in there.LLS
If everyone concentrated on the important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishingpoles.......... ..............Remember we all live downstream

Fishalot and I went there a couple weeks ago. Fishalot caught the smallest togue I've ever seen....about 5" long. I caught a bigger one later in the day.....about 8" long.  Not bragging....just the facts.  8)

It was a beautiful day,though.  :)
