Are people driving out with cars?  My little Toyota thinks it's a truck sometimes!

I know how you feel.  I had the same situation but it was my mom's.  She loved fishing.  The only good thing was I was fishing two rods side by side.  I caught one and was fighting with it when my mom's went down before I could grab it.  My story had a happy ending.  When I pulled up the walleye,  the other line was tangled with it and I got it back.  I haven't used it since!

i turned away from a rod on Saturday on dauphin lake,it was gone when i looked back. The fish TV battery was dead so i couldn't look for it till the next day,it was down there. It was dragged about five feet before it stopped. It was hard to figure out what direction it was,but a 2x4 helped figure that out.then a row of holes were made until I got above it.This is the second time this rod was in the water, they all laughed at me but i got it back again.

red with a white box ? - this guy made it back and even polled out a new model ford pickup that got it's backend hung up in the surface ice and water.

Hey golden eyes was that your group with the dogs, if so I was the green Dakota by you for a short time.
How did you do?
My dad and I managed 13 eyes and a perch  and packed up around 3. We ended up about 1.5miles out

with the cold temps. at night (-9 or higher) the holes will freeze over night. You will have to bring your auger. :( I know tonight it is going down to -20 and -31 with wind chill. hope this helps.

Hello all, I am new to this site but I have checked it a number of times before heading out to the lakes.

Was out at Chalet Beach Yesterday and drove out no problem, there was a couple small cracks that you had to cross but it was simple for a fullsize truck. Went out from Ralph access in Matlock about 1 km east north east and did very well, between 6 guys about 45 fish were caught 5 over 24 inches and one 31.75 inch monster. If it does not warm up to much that access will be great for a few more days as there was over 3.5 feet of ice no matter where we drilled.

Have a good one.

Was out there as well yesterday.  Walked out about 1.5-2 miles by the end of the day.  I definately could've got a car on (saw several on there) but the first ice crack was about 14" wide at the time and I didn't want to risk sinking a yaris (it closed up later).  Managed 26 fish (3 people) between 16-26" and the fattest nicest coloured burbot (if that makes sense?) ive seen in a while on a livetarget.  The water was very clear.  Tried 11 fow, 13 fow, and 15 fow.  Ice was pretty hard, probably 26-32 inches in most spots drilled.

Awesome day out there.  Got VERY sun burnt.  but... either way!

Oh, and thanks to the North Dakota group with the big utility trailer that let us hitch hike back to shore with them.  Definately made the day and trip back to dry land much more enjoyable!

chalet is still very fishable, there are over 200 anglers out there this morning. access is not a problem, crowds of weekend warriors are though. going for the late bite tonite, expect a gongshow.
