Wow. I think I would not be able to contain my laughter to hear someone call those jumbo's I Harris. 1 out of every 1000 is a jumbo up there.

nearly 15".

It depends on the waters.  Chautauqua Lake, for instance, anything fat and over 10" is considered a "jumbo".  On Lake Erie, that same jumbo from Chautauqua would be considered a dink.

lake george has jumbo 15" perch you just have to know where to get them and when to go after them. lake champlain also has jumbo perch as well. you cant set up on a bay that gets hammered and catch 9" fish and expect to consistantly get bigger fish -you might get a couple once and a while but not likely because fish usualy school with fish their own size and that is even more so with big perch. just because a big perch is smaller than a big walleye they are still considered mature fish and most likely dont act the same as smaller fish, you dont fish trophy fish of any type like you would a common size . granted some lakes have greater potential than others (look at simco) but sometimes you have to switch up your tactics a little and it makes a world of difference i have cawt jumbo perch from both lakes and do it consistantly i wont keep 9" perch they are to small in my opinion but thats just my opinion. i tried a new lake a week ago and cawt 20 perch over 10" in 2 hours and threw back over three times that amount in smaller fish i dont keep a perch unless their is a inch between the eyes or at least 10" long. and i fished champlain the next day and brought home over 20 perch of the same size with some large pike also so there are jumbo perch to be had you just have to find them. ask prchslyr i called him at work both days to heckl him and got 3 flags at the same time while on the phone.

Jumbos, we used to call 'em "Jack" perch.  I don't think a belly full of eggs would classify any sized perch a Jumbo based solely on the eggs.  I always considered a Jack perch anything over 10 inches.  Guess everybody has their own interpretation though.
Leave it better than you found it
