Minnewasta Today
« on: Mar 17, 2010, 08:21 AM »
I'm heading there later today and appreciate some up to date info. Bunk hasn't been there since last week so I'm hoping that someone else has been there lately.
I'm walking on so all I need to know is if the Crappie have left the deep water zones yet?
Knowing this will save me from too much walking for nothing.....dragging all my gear. :flex:
Am I wasting my time going there seeing that the conditions are at least 2 weeks ahead of schedule  ::)  :P
Thanks  :)

I'm heading out there, right now as well.  I'll bring the camera along and take a photo or two of the conditions.

Already been there and done that  ;D

This is the way it was almost all the way around the lake except for one small spot that was deteorating real fast with the heavy winds. I suspect that spot will open up soon as the main ice was moving.

This was the flow at the dam.....and AC's mugshot  ;D

While looking for access near the dam......found 2 golf balls and 1 basketball in the long grass. AC found 1 pickerel rig. Malcolm didn't partake in the scavenger hunt  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

These guys were already there when we arrived at 2PM. They moved to the other side when the CO showed up. He eventually joined them. Hope they made it off safely  :)

Looks like we had the same luck, blue! ha ha

Had a really late start today and made it out there at about 3:30.  The CO truck was still out on the ice.  Did you see if those 2 groups of guys had any luck?

Another group showed up after our search for access and we let them guinea-pig the 10 foot snow bridge to the ice by the dam, but after seeing one of the guys get a boot'er, I realized that I would need more than a pair of rubber boots to make it on there.

Oh well.  There's gotta be some ice left somewhere out there, right ?

The CO truck was NOT on the ice....but on the Dam  road when we were there..... along with 3 other trucks. Those 2 groups of guys you saw....were all together fishing by that snow bridge then they moved to the campground area on the other side when the CO showed up. Looks like the CO was fishing/sitting with them  ???

I meant to write the CO's truck was parked and they were still on the ice.

This is what not being able to go fishing when you try to can do to a person!  ;)

Ummmm, Yeah. It was a great day. Up at 4am. Drove on the ice at Chalet and decided wreaking the truck in the water ruts wasn't worth the million Walleye we were dreaming about. Back home at 8:30 am. A quick report to Blue and he was off to Minni. I couldn't resist. Pack everything back up, regroup.
Well. now I can't fish in two different spots in the same day? Must be Blue !!!  ;D

Not so bad.....nobody went swimming  ;D  :o
That deflated basketball I found took to air like a fish to water.....just like new.......hard and bouncy.  8)
Will try out the 2 golf balls in a few weeks if this weather holds up  ::)
