Hand held sonar
« on: Apr 05, 2004, 09:57 PM »
I just received my hand held sonar unit. I bought it off e-bay for 16.50. With shipping and tax it was about 27 bucks. It's a unit sold by Sharper Image and made by Hawk Eye. I don't think it's necessarily as good as a LX-1 or Strikemaster, but if I can save 75 bucks, I'll surely give it a try. Anyone else have experience with one of these?

They're available on e-bay for less than 15 bucks if you look and are patient. Good luck.

I have the vexilar LX - 1, I just bought it this year. It seems to read depths in open water very very well. I am hoping it will read through the ice well, so I'm going to carry a jug of salt water to help it read through the ice so I can save time drilling holes.

I got a Marcum LXI today and hope it works as well as everybody says. I do not want it to mark fish rather to find drop offs and holes. Will report back on how well I like it.
Good thing about prisons- they reduce the potential number of fisherman on the ice!
