Stocked Rainbow Pond
« on: Aug 30, 2012, 10:29 PM »
Been fishing the local rainbow trout pond, and am having less than impressive results. I was way off base the first time using spinners and sinking jigs, I noticed as time went on that they were all surface feeding, the bugs were killing me and I called it a night. Went back tonight used a green floating jig with orange trout powerbait, my biggest problem was the floating jig is so light that I can't cast it out more than 10-12 feet, I am in the water a way with my chest waiters on, but I cannot get it out to where I can see fish surfacing, so solution is to pull a pile of line off my reel let it rest in the water and then cast out the jig sans resistance, but 1 out of 3 casts ends up with tangled line and the whole process is time consuming. There has to be a better way, please tell me what to do and what to use with my spinning reel, it kills me to see them surfacing all over and all I am getting is bites from the mosquito's, lol. I am pretty sure I did get a bite tonight though. Anyhow, any type of help would be great.

After some thinking reading and sharing a few text back and forth with a friend, I think I am going to go with a slip bobber about 5 feet in front of my lure, these look to be the ticket,

I'll have to wait till next week to give it a go though, heading up North to Buffalo Narrows for the weekend.
